Senior Vice President in Premier Banking

Bank of America

"Not only does she take care of her own business, but she is willing to help others. That sets her apart from the rest."

-Pamela Parker

Meet Pam Parker a Senior Vice President at Bank of America, and INROADS Alum — class of 1990. Pam says her INROADS internship put her in the right place to meet the right people. Dana Freeman, one of Pam's former supervisors, recognized early that this intern could "work an assignment without being followed up on" or told what to do. She adds, "Her strong points were her ability to get along well with everyone - whether it was customers, associates or management."

Freeman describes Pam as "forward-thinking enough" to turn those summer internships into an impressive 16 year career. Her current manager Henry Essey agrees. He believes the INROADS training process fostered Pam's excellent work ethic and good attitude. "Not only does she take care of her own business, but she is willing to help others. That sets her apart from the rest."

Through INROADS, Pam was able to meet the bank's CEO and other company executives who became mentors and inspired her success. One such person was Ed Dolby, who grew through the ranks to become President of Bank of America's Carolinas division. "Seeing Ed succeed showed me that blacks and women can do well within this organization." She adds "Had I not had four summers interning here, I never would have met these people. My mentors kept in touch with me during the school year. They valued me, and made me feel that I always had someone in my corner supporting me."

Pam remains active with INROADS and occasionally, still spends her summers with the organization. But now, she's the trainer, and facilitates workshops on "Corporate Success" for interns who hang on her every word and experience.
