To a college student, weekends are important social days, but for those determined to succeed, weekends are an opportunity.
“As an Intern, I went to training sessions every Saturday. I spent so many more hours than my peers focusing on my professional success. I credit that with why I am doing so well in my career today,” says Lisa Hamilton, Former President of the UPS Foundation.
The weekend sessions are just one component of the process. INROADS students benefit from the personal touch, as well. Lisa credits INROADS with keeping her focused on her career progress, “I checked in with my staffer every month and made sure my grades were positioning me for success,” Lisa adds.
With the proper training and an earnest desire to learn, this Alum knows that the sky is the limit. Since her INROADS days, she never shied away from respectfully helping her leadership team understand how she could add value to the organization. “I can always say that I learned that through INROADS,” says Lisa.
For over 15 years, Lisa also managed the INROADS Internship Process within UPS. “I took great pride in ensuring UPS Interns have scholarships, great Internship experiences, and are positioned for permanent jobs with UPS when they graduate.”
Students come to INROADS for the career training and opportunities, but they learn that being part of INROADS is like having a very large extended family.
“I joined INROADS in 1987 and have really loved my experience. I still keep in touch with many of the friends I made. It is such a special connection for me to have with friends across the country,” says Lisa.
