“INROADS taught me what it means to be a leader. My mentor encouraged me to ‘Identify a cause and rally around it.’"

-Ian Jackson

Meet Ian Jackson, Founding Partner of Inspired Professionals LLC, and also INROADS Alumnus from the Fairfield-Westchester Counties area in New York. Invited in 2005 by New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, to Gracie Mansion in recognition of his service as a Judge for the NYC Small Business Awards, this Alum is taking leadership higher every day. As Founding Partner, Ian owns a consulting firm for professionals in the Small & Medium Business (SMB) sector.

Prior to Inspired Professionals LLC, Ian led Strategy worldwide for the SMB Division at Avaya Inc. (Lucent/AT&T Bell Labs). In recognition of his work, he won the SMB Division Award in Dublin, Ireland in 4Q04 for leadership and extraordinary results, and was inducted into the division's Leadership Rotation Program for high performing employees.

He began his career as an INROADS Intern at Nortel Corp., which sponsored him as a high school graduate, and offered him a full-time position upon graduation from college in 1992. His work included a two-year International assignment for Nortel Latin America.

“INROADS taught me what it means to be a leader. My mentor encouraged me to ‘Identify a cause and rally around it.’ He believed in ABTB: About Being the Best,” he continues, “He coached me as a high school graduate in 1988 and we have remained in contact to this day.”

In 2001, he was inducted into Leadership Edge, Nortel’s worldwide program for employees identified as Top Talent. Gary Donahee, President of the Americas at Nortel, wrote: "We see Ian as an asset to the company and an example to others."

Educated in business as well as law, he holds both MBA and JD degrees. In addition, he has an electrical engineering degree. A graduate of Cornell University, he is part of the Cornell Entrepreneur Network and serves as a Business Plan Coach to high school girls enrolled at Cornell University’s Camp Start-Up program. He has volunteered his time as a Advisor to many causes and organizations including small business owners in the World Trade Center district on business recovery, entrepreneurs on behalf of the Women’s Venture Fund, and on the Board of Advisors for Periscope Solutions LLC.

This INROADS Alumnus is only just getting started, he says, knowing that INROADS was the catalyst that helped him to reach for leadership at its highest.
