INROADS, Nation’s Largest Source of Salaried Corporate Internships, Secures Fund Development Executive as Chief Development Officer
INROADS, the nation’s largest non-profit source of salaried corporate internships for top diverse talent, has recently secured Alumna, Valeria G. Wells, to serve as the organization’s Chief Development Officer. Within this new role, Wells will advance the organization’s strategic development vision with the end goal of increasing the number of internships and career opportunities afforded to INROADS Interns and Alumni.
Wells is the embodiment of the INROADS’ promise. She used the leadership and development training that was ingrained in her as an INROADS intern to advance her career while amassing a diversity of experiences. She brought her talents to INROADS to serve as Sponsorship Manager and Event Director for the organization where she generated multiple funding sources in corporate underwriting in its inaugural year for a sponsorship program. She also created marketing and fund development campaigns for events in Chicago, Dallas, New York and St. Louis affiliates that were subsequently adopted at the national level. Wells returns to INROADS to ensure that other diversity Interns like her are afforded the same opportunities.
Wells brings to INROADS an impressive portfolio of experience that runs the gamut of fund development from executing strategies to securing private and institutional giving to developing organizational marketing programs that maximize brand recognition. As Regional Director at Jack and Jill of America, Inc. she oversaw a $1.2M annual budget. She also served as Director of Development and Communications at Family ReEntry where she secured more than $950K in pledges, major and individual gifts, corporate and private foundation grants, and special events, a 25 percent revenue increase within one year.

Wells graduated with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Management from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Her professional affiliations include Guild President and Board Secretary of the Urban League of Southern Connecticut, and former Board Member of the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, among others. She has also been featured as a Connecticut entrepreneur in the Hartford Courant, Stamford Advocate, and Greenwich Times and has been a guest lecturer of Major Gifts and Cultivation at Fairfield University. Ms. Wells has two daughters, Carla, a graduate student at Cornell University and Monica, a senior at Santa Clara University. She is resides in Stamford, Connecticut with her husband, Clifford Wells and the family dog, Mac.
